The mechanism of antihypertensive effect of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors is that they can hinder the degradation of bradykinin and increase the release of prostaglandin. Cyclooxygenase inhibitors reduce the efficacy of ACE inhibitors by interfering with prostaglandin synthesis. This concludes that the use of aspirin may have adverse effects on patients undergoing ACE inhibitor therapy. This article assesses the occurrence of this interaction
