2014年6月,兰州交通大学博文学院女教师刘伶利被查出癌症,2015年1月博文学院拒绝为刘伶利继续购买医保,并以“旷工”为由将其开除。2015年3月,刘伶利向法院提出上诉,榆中县人民法院判决博文学院开除决定无效,双方恢复劳动关系,但直至刘伶利去世,博文学院始终未履行判决。2016年8月14日,刘伶利因癌症并发心脏病去世,8月18日,中青在线发布此事件报道《大学癌症女教师被开除事件调查:学校冷漠对待》,引发舆论关注。
In June 2014, Liu Lingli, a female teacher at Bowen College of Lanzhou Jiaotong University, was found to have cancer. In January 2015, Bowen College refused to continue purchasing medical insurance for Liu Lingli and expelled him for absenteeism. In March 2015, Liu Lingli appealed to the court, and the Yuzhong County People’s Court ruled that Bowen College’s expulsion decision was invalid and the two sides resumed the labor relationship. However, until Liu Lingli passed away, Bowen College failed to fulfill the judgment. On August 14, 2016, Liu Lingli died of cancer due to heart disease. On August 18, Zhongqing released this incident online and reported that “college female cancer teacher was expelled from the incident investigation: school indifference”, arousing public concern.
