美国诗人 E·爱伦·坡在诗作 To Helen(1831)中曾写下这样的诗句:“Thy hyacinth hair,thy classic face/Thy Naiad airs have brought mehome/To the glory that was Greece/And the grandeur that was Rome(你风信子般的发丝,典雅的面庞,水中女神般的风姿,将我带回荣耀的古希腊和恢宏的古罗马)”。坡笔下的海伦是他少年时代暗恋过的斯坦纳德夫人,当然,也有人把这首诗解释为诗人借古希腊神话中美女海伦的形象向唯美主义致敬。仅仅是偶然,我们读到这首诗的时候,眼前浮现的是另一位海伦——上世纪二三十年代著名的网球运动员海伦·威尔斯·穆迪。
American poet E. Allan Poe wrote in verse To Helen (1831) the verse: "Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face / Thy Naiad airs have brought mehome / To the glory that was Greece / And the grandeur That was Rome (your hyacinth hair, elegant face, goddess of water in the water, brought me back to the glory of ancient Greece and the magnificent ancient Rome). Helen was the wife of Mrs. Stannard, who was crushed by his childhood. Of course, some people also interpreted this poem as a tribute to aestheticism by the poet, Helen, an ancient Greek mythology. Just by chance, when we read this poem, another Helen emerged - the famous tennis player Helen Wells Moody of the 1920s and 1930s.
