吉林省历来重视二人转的剧本创作和理论研究。在当年很多人对二人转艺术不屑一顾的时候,吉林省艺术研究院以王肯先生为代表的拓荒者,以对民间艺术发展的前瞻性认识和历史使命感,遍访东北三省所有二人转艺人活动过的地方,有计划地进行了大量的田野调查和采访汇编工作,搜集、整理并编印了近三百万字的《二人转史料》丛书,为研究东北民间艺术和东北文化提供了鲜活的文本依据。
