广东省徐闻县属高旱台地,全县土地面积18.62万hm~2,耕地面积5.782万 hm~2,其中高旱坡地4.16万hm~2,占耕地面积70%。糖蔗是这个县最大宗经济作物,也是这个县的经济支柱。经大力开发和扩种,现已达到3万 hm~2,占旱坡地面积69.7%。徐闻县糖蔗大多数种植在高旱坡地上,高旱坡地一个显著的特点是干旱缺水。长期以来,由于土壤水份供需不平衡,造成了甘蔗长期在低产区徘徊。70~80年代平均单位面积产量只有37t/hm~2。为了提高甘蔗单产,近几年来,农业与农机部门密切配合,在抓好推广优良品种和先进种植技术的同时,大力推广应用甘蔗机械深松耕技术,促使甘蔗单位面积产量大幅度提高。据统计,从1990~1997年的8年时间,徐闻县累计推广面积18.32万hm~2,占全县甘蔗种植累计面积22.9万hm~2的80%,年均产蔗61t/hm~2,比前8年年均产甘蔗45.5t/hm~2,增产15.5t,累计增产354.95万 t。最高年份1990年产蔗70.7t/hm~2,总产191万 t。1995年,在灾害频繁的情况下,仍达到61.5t/hm~2,总产179.58万 t。深松耕作技术其所以能使甘蔗获得稳产高产,主要是深松耕翻改变了土壤的理化性能,创造了甘蔗良好的生长环境。通过深耕或深松,打破了坚硬的犁底层,促使土壤
