本文就目前美国石油钻井装置的技术水平作了综合的叙述。文章着重指出,为了提高钻进和起下钻速度以及钻机的适应能力、钻机的驱动功率有继续增加的趋势;在不断提高主机性能的同时,加强了对泥装净化系统、、井下监测系统以及先进的资料收集系统的研制工作,从而实现最优化的钻井技术;为了适应各种钻探工作的需要,还研制了多种变形钻机。文章最后时美国电驱动钻机、新型的“错层式”钻机以及全液压自动钻机的研制进展作了叙述。
