Polyacrylonitrile-based activated carbon fiber (PAN-ACF) hydrogen sulfide (H_2S) has more adsorption capacity than other activated carbon materials. The adsorption of H_S on PAN-ACF is a chemisorption that combines both physical adsorption and catalytic properties. The chemical adsorption site is mainly located in the microporous surface. The adsorption process is as follows: H 2 S molecules are first physically adsorbed into the micropore space, and then chemical adsorption including electron transfer is performed on the chemisorption sites on the micropore surface to catalyze oxidation to produce a relatively stable chemical structure on the carbon surface.
