我和隶书我六岁习字,十二岁起在双亲(我父亲华山为近代大画家王一亭先生弟子,庶母诸素君工写照和工笔人物)的训导下,系统地学习金石篆刻、书法、绘画。回忆当时处在战争年代,又居于文化极为落后的广州湾(今湛江市),父亲于书法擅长行草,但深爱篆隶,我初学汉隶,家里只有一册石印本的史晨碑。还有两幅乡前辈田四先生的隶书(节临石门颂)和大篆楹联(集散氏盘字),田四先生的篆隶令我倾倒,可惜我与田先生无一面之缘,无从聆教,但心香一瓣,永为我的私淑良师。
