1916年海外学农归来的有识之士王舜成、陈嵘,过探先、陆水范等,为“图农业之发挥,求农事之改进”发起组织中华农学会。拟议甫出,受到不少中青年农学家的响应。翌年元月30日在上海江苏教育会堂召开成立大会,推举张謇为名誉会长,王舜成为会长。建会初期,会员仅50余人。嗣后的历届会长(或称总干事长或理事长)及其任期大致是,陈嵘(1920-1922,王舜成(1922-1924),许璇(1924-1934),梁希(1935-1941),邹秉文(1942-1048)。
In 1916, Wang Shuncheng, Chen Rong, an insightful man returning from overseas study in agriculture, forestry first and Lu Shuifan started the organization of the Chinese Agricultural Association for the purpose of “giving full play to agriculture in agriculture and seeking improvements in agriculture.” Proposed just out, by many young agronomists response. January 30 the following year in Shanghai, Jiangsu Education Hall held a General Assembly, elected Zhang Jian as honorary president, Wang Shun became president. At the beginning of the meeting, only 50 members. The successor presidents (or chief directors or board directors) and their terms of office are roughly the following: Chen Rong (1920-1922, Wang Shuncheng (1922-1924), Xu Xuan (1924-1934), Liang Xi (1935-1941) , Zou Bingwen (1942-1048).
