输送石油、天然气等的大直径管线钢管主要是用UOE制管法生产的。厚钢板经过冷压成U形,再压成O形,在焊接后为了消除焊接部位的变形,提高管子的尺寸精度进行扩管(Expand),所以叫做UOE。据说中国早在公元900年的时候,为了输送煤气,曾使用过竹管。到1900年,为了输送石油、煤气美国大量使用铁管。1928年美国石油协会制定了管线管API标准。从那时起直至今日,强度逐次向高的方向发展。1951年美国国家钢铁厂为了制造外径36″大直径
