The typical manifestation of limited mobility (LJM) in children with diabetes begins in the proximal and distal small finger interphalangeal joints and then extends to the radial side involving other fingers or stops at any stage of development, but also affects the metacarpophalangeal joints, wrists, Elbow, ankle and spine. Of the 309 patients, 92 had LJM, with no racial or gender differences. The average age at onset of LJM and diabetes were 2.5 years and 6.3 years old, respectively, indicating that the relationship between LJM incidence and age was more related to the course of diabetes.
