莫乎尔地处那拉提北坡山地,由莫乎尔山间盆地和大小莫乎尔沟等众多沟壑山地组成。莫乎尔山区沟壑中多溪流,数十条大小溪流向北注入大吉尔尕郎河。由于它特殊的小气候,使山区夏季凉爽,冬季温和。大莫乎尔位于莫乎尔乡东面,沟口距乡政府2.5公里,因大莫乎尔河而得名。这里分布着大面积的野苹果林,是巩留县野苹果的主要分布区。小莫乎尔位于大莫乎尔以西,沟口距乡政府2公里,因小莫乎尔河而得名。主要有东沟、西沟和中沟,主沟长20公里,沟内云杉蔽日,密不透风,盛产马林,故又被称为马林沟。
