如果向岩石施加应力,则如图1所示,与膨胀的开始相应,从破裂应力的50%—60%开始大量产生 AE 活动,在应力增加的同时,发生量也加速地增加,最终达到破裂。这是一种自茂木(1962)和肖尔茨(1968)的研究以来众所周知的现象。这里将这种 AE 活动称之为 L 型。AE 活动可认为是伴随微破裂的弹性波动,是与地震相对应的。如果在相当于最终破裂的大地震之前出现图1这样的地震活动,则对大地震的预报是有用的。
