Objective To investigate the performance and diagnostic value of CT and MRI in cavernous angiomas (CA) in the brain. Methods CT and MRI data of 36 patients with cerebral CA confirmed by histopathology were collected, and their imaging features were analyzed. Results CA can be located in any part of the brain, single lesions more common, no or mild peripheral edema, no mass effect, CT scan for a slightly higher density, calcification accounted for 68.7%, enhanced scan mostly no enhancement; MRI showed Mixed mulberry high signal, surrounded by clouds flocculent low signal ring, enhanced lesions mostly no enhancement. Conclusions The MRI findings of cavernous hemangiomas in the brain are specific. The detection rate of CA in brain parenchyma is superior to that of CT, especially T2WI images of MRI can help to confirm the diagnosis.
