In this study, GIS and principal component analysis were used to study the ecological planning method based on the natural distribution of native tree species in Michigan. The study data included Michigan’s 51 native species distribution maps. Using principal component analysis, 10 mappings generated by 10 major components accounted for 84.9% of the variance. The results of this study are quite different from those of other studies. Studies have shown that the use of exploration method to partition the area may have the following problems: ignore the size of the generated changes in the region, fuzzy boundaries, plaque types and discontinuous plaques. The results reveal the possibility of land showing heterogeneous independent regions in successive dimensions. Research shows that there are certain uncertainties in landscape planning and design in Michigan.
