1980年7月中旬的一天,来自美国、法国、希腊等20多个国家以及挪威本国的跳水发烧友相约来到挪威的一个无名半岛上,在那里举行悬崖跳水表演赛。“砰!”发令枪响了,瞬间,只见30条白影飞下悬崖,钻进了万顷碧波之中。1分钟过去了,3分钟过去了……半个小时过去了,这些跳水健儿仍没有一人露出水面。岸上的人慌了。比赛组委会负责人波尔先生立即派救生艇去附近海面上寻找。几个小时过后,不但没有跳水健儿的消息,反而连救生艇及艇上的司机、救生员也都莫名其妙地失踪了。组委会经过紧急讨论,决定向挪威政府求援。
