作为报纸媒体如何在多媒体的新闻竞争中吸引读者呢?笔者认为,我们报纸媒介应具备“五味”,努力做好新闻这道“决餐”。——人情味。在市场经济时代“人情味”比较浓厚的新闻最能唤起人们的“道义”、良知和同情心。譬如:在1998年长江、嫩江等地发生百年不遇的洪灾,全国各大媒体都派记者深入抗洪抢险一线,书写了很多令人难以忘怀的“一方有难,八方支援”的人情味比较浓厚的文章,使中华民族的传统美德得到了淋漓尽致的展现。再如:困难学子、孤儿、孤寡老人和发生天灾人祸得到社会各界捐助,新闻援助、法律援助的人情味
