Objective To explore the impact of marital status on HIV-related behaviors and infections in MSM and to provide a scientific basis for effective prevention and control in this population. Methods A snowball recruit method was used to conduct questionnaire and serological tests on 744 non-married MSM and 455 MSM marriages in Ningbo. The sexual behaviors, AIDS and syphilis infection were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in MSM knowledge of HIV / AIDS, same-sex sexual behavior, HIV / AIDS and syphilis among non-married group, but there was significant difference in heterosexual behavior between the two groups in the last six months. The incidence of protective heterosexual behavior was higher in non-married groups. Conclusion Marriage does not constrain same-sex, high-risk sexual behavior of MSM, and it is easier for HIV to spread to ordinary women. For sub-populations of married MSM, more targeted behavioral interventions are necessary.
