In 1983, a new processing method, the Abrasive Water Jet Cutting, was first put into practical use in the United States. It uses water as a driving force, adding fine abrasive to “cut” various materials such as steel, various alloys, titanium, graphite compounds, glass, industrial ceramics, metal matrix composites, synthetic materials and more. 1. Basic Principle As its name implies, abrasive water jet cutting is the use of water and abrasive to work. The high-pressure water, through the nozzle to form a fine high-pressure water jet, the hard abrasive mixed into the high-pressure jet water flow, and then fired at high speed to be cut material, the material cut. Cutting, the booster pump to the water pressure rose to 140 ~ 350MPa (about 1400 ~ 3500 atmospheres), spray through the nozzle, the nozzle is made of sapphire, the nozzle has a mixing chamber, inside with abrasive, grinding Granules are usually corundum, emery, garnet, silicon oxide and other high hardness materials,
