长江从城陵磯到武汉之间的河道形势,大致呈北东方向的流向,一般比较平直,但从肖家洲起,经花口、东岭急转而至东江脑、煤炭洲,再直趋武汉,构成一长约45公里的大湾曲,称簰洲湾,这和整个河段相比较,是显得极不自然的。(见图1)簰洲湾的存在和发展,对于航运及农田水利等部门都诸多不利,它既增加了航道的距离,也给保坍、防洪等带来了许多困难,所以,我国治河工程学界对此历来都十分重视,已提出了多种整治方案,但多未研究其成因,笔者于1959年春,有机会途经簰洲湾,作了初步的踏勘,对于它的成因,偶有浅识,现结合地貌现象以土质影响河道发育的观点,加以探讨。提供我国治河工程学界作参考。并请指正。在编写过程中,引用了某些同志的资料,致谢。
The trend of the river channel from Chenglingji to Wuhan in the Yangtze River generally follows a northeastern direction and is generally relatively flat.
