低压电器是指工作在1200伏以下电路中的电器设备。而电器触头(或叫接点)是低压电器的咽喉,担负着接通、截流和断开的功能。银具有良好的导电性能,一直作为电器触头的材料,其年耗量在150吨以上,是我国工业生产中耗银量较大的项目之一。纯银触头经电弧灼烧、机械磨损之后剩下一半或三分之一时,由于接触不良而失效。这些废触头分散在各用户手中,很难再生回收,一年至少有50～60吨银被抛弃。另外,纯银触头性软,不耐磨,不能承担较大的电流负荷,而银合金则优于纯银。例如 AgFe 合金触头
