【Objective】 To investigate the status of obesity and overweight among 870 children aged 0-18 months in Xiamen City by means of surveys and to analyze the effect of intervention on children’s obesity in order to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control of the occurrence and development of childhood obesity. 【Method】 Ten infants and young children served at 10 community health service centers (or community health centers) were randomly selected in 6 districts of Xiamen City, and divided into intervention group (4 community health service centers) and control group (6 A community health service center) serving 870 infants and young children each. 【Results】 The results of baseline assessment by BMI showed that the children in the intervention group had a higher incidence of overweight and obesity, while the control group had a higher prevalence of overweight (12.6%) but a very low incidence of obesity (only 0.5%). However, WFH evaluation showed that children in the intervention group and the control group had a higher incidence of overweight. The incidence of overweight in both groups showed a decreasing trend. In the incidence of obesity, the intervention group showed a slight downward trend (from 5.4% at birth To 2.6% at 18 months of age), and the control group tended to be stable. 【Conclusion】 The monitoring data showed no significant differences in the incidence of overweight and obesity between the intervention and control groups at 18 months. However, baseline data showed that the incidence of overweight and obesity was significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group, It reflects that the incidence of obesity and overweight in the intervention group has been controlled to some extent, indicating that the intervention has achieved some results.
