On November 14, 2001, a magnitude 8.1 earthquake occurred in the Hoh Xil No-man’s land in the northern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The epicenter of the epicenter was near Bukbandang Peak at the junction of Qinghai and Xinjiang. At the moment of the earthquake, a magnitude of 450 Kilometers long, 10 to 10 meters wide, bottomless earthquake rupture zone. The earthquake, in a positive sense, created a major natural landscape on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and enriched the natural ornamental value of the Kunlun Mountains. Based on the advice of the earthquake experts, the Golmud City Hall is currently building an earthquake museum to carry out exploratory protection of the remains of the West Kunlun Mountain Pass M8.1 earthquake. In order to introduce this project to the readers, this article was specially prepared by experts from Qinghai Earthquake Administration and Earthquake Administration of Golmud, who participated in the on-site investigation of the earthquake.
