柳蛎盾蚧,又名杨牡蛎介壳虫,广泛分布在东北、华北。西北及华东地区,主要为害杨树,为我国杨树的检疫害虫.此虫还为害柳、核桃、丁香、黄菠罗、白榆等多种绿化树木和果树.若虫和雌成虫在干、枝上营固定生活,吸吮树木汁液,造成枝、干枯萎,特别是幼树波害后,一般在3～5年内全株死亡.我省彰武、昌图、台安等地的林木因此虫为害已有成片死亡.
