The 711 weather radar digital control and processing system jointly developed by Department of Atmospheric Science and Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University, and Department of Systems Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, has passed the technical appraisal conducted by the Department of Science and Education under the State Meteorological Administration in Nanjing on December 29, 1988. The participating experts agreed that the system’s basic performance indicators have reached the international advanced level of similar systems. 711 weather radar in China has more than 200 equipment, but most still use the old screen analysis, can not meet the higher requirements of users of meteorological information.
