The Farewell Interview with “The Sea of Death” was a memorable event for nearly 40 years in a reporter’s career. “The Sea of Death” is another name for the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang. In the past, I have repeatedly entered the “sea of death”, eaten bitter, experienced dangers, but enriched my experience and witnessed the transformation of this mysterious world. Therefore, unknowingly love this piece of land. In recent years, I heard that “the sea of death” has surprisingly changed, naturally fascinated me. As a result, in the late autumn of 1997, before I retired, I made a special trip to Taklamakan from Lanzhou to start an eye-opening tour of the old.
