中国科学院于6月1日起举行了学部成立大会,成立物理学数学化学部、生物学地学部、技术科学部和哲学社会科学部等四个学部。大会听取并讨论了郭沫若院长的工作报告、各学部主任的工作报告以及党和政府负责同志的政治报告,宣读了三十多篇学术论文,讨论了中国科学院的五年计划纲要,讨论并通过了各学部1955年工作计划纲要,选举了各学部的常务委员会。在大会进行期间,还举行了关于科学出版工作、西藏科学考察工作、考古发掘工作和脊椎动物化石研究 The Chinese Academy of Sciences held its inaugural meeting on June 1, setting up four faculties of mathematics and chemistry, physics and science, and philosophy and social sciences. The conference listened to and discussed Guo Moruo’s work report, the work reports of directors of various departments, and the political reports of responsible comrades of the party and government. They read over 30 academic papers and discussed the outline of the five-year plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to discuss and approve The various departments of the 1955 program of work outline, elected the Standing Committee of the Faculty. During the conference, there were also reports on scientific publishing, Tibet’s scientific expeditions, archeological excavations and vertebrate fossil studies
