William Wordsworth,is a famous British Romantic poet,who belongs to the Lake School of the Romanticists,utters that the language used is to be a selection of language really used by men—It is mainly his plain language that changed the course of English poetry. So he is especially remembered as a founder of the new tradition of romanticism to replace the Neo-classicism which had gone stale of the 18th century. Due to his life experience,he develops a keen love of nature,a desire for liberty and regards the common people of nature and tries to save society. In order to better understand his great soul,“Sublimity is the echo of a great soul.”This paper will explore the reasons that he uses ordinary speech derived from his life experience,social background and his philosophy,with the help of some illustrations of his poems.
