格赖斯主张用说话者意图解释说话者场景意义,提出分析说话者场景意义的3个充要条件,然后再用说话者场景意义解释语句意义。该意义理论将面临难以避免的无穷倒退难题,格赖斯和希弗的解决方案皆不足以完全处理这一难题。
Grice advocates that the speaker intends to explain the scene meaning of the speaker and proposes three necessary and sufficient conditions to analyze the speaker’s scene meaning, and then interprets the meaning of the sentence with the scene meaning of the speaker. The theory of meaning is facing an infinitely difficult problem of regression, neither of which is available to Grice and Schiffer.
