法国超短程地空导弹西北风原设计用于野战防空,主要是拦截超低空、低空直升机和高速飞机。其目的是为了填补20mm速射高炮和近程地空导弹之间的防御空白。但随着空地导弹、无人驾驶侦察机和防区外武器系统数量和性能的提高,对地面构成的三维威胁大大增加了,靠高炮和导弹组成的自动防空系统已经不够了,因此,设想将西北风发展成对付中、低、超低空目标的立体防空武器系统。
French short-range surface-to-air missile Northwest Wind was originally designed for field air defense, mainly to intercept ultralow-altitude, low-altitude helicopters and high-speed aircraft. Its purpose is to fill the defense gap between 20mm rapid-fire AA and short-range surface-to-air missiles. However, with the increase of the number and performance of airborne missiles, unmanned reconnaissance aircraft and weapons systems outside the zone, the three-dimensional threat posed to the ground has increased greatly. The automatic anti-aircraft defense system consisting of anti-aircraft artillery and missiles is not enough. Therefore, The northwest wind has developed into a three-dimensional air defense weapon system that deals with low, medium and low altitude targets.
