一、地理位置和发掘经过墓地位于辽阳市东郊太子河东岸的丘陵地上,即清代的新城城内。新城为清太祖努尔哈赤由新宾满族自治县赫图阿拉城迁都时所建,曰新城,又名东京城。城地势较高,城外四周较平坦开阔。墓地位于城内北部,距北城墙180米,距东城墙400余米,附近是城内的宫殿区。西距太子河2公里,北距迎水寺2公里,距辽阳市区8公里,现为太子河区东京陵乡新城村的砖瓦厂(图1)。墓地是1982年6月下旬,新城村砖厂工人在取土时发现的,共二座。东西并列,
