Not long ago, the London National Archives opened a group of little-known secret documents. One of them, the contents of a document, amazed the dignified French: “Has our great French Republic also applied to join the Commonwealth?” It goes back to the 1950s. The application was made by the then French chancellor Guy Moore. Moller is a pro-British and he was a British teacher before he entered politics. However, Britain and France have long been striving to become European leaders have been struggling in the open. Even the collision of citizens of the two countries will inevitably make a few mouthfuls. Under such circumstances, it is beyond the expectation that France would apply to join the Commonwealth and succumb to the old rival Britain.
