Eighty-seven old swimmers (women) who insisted on swimming for at least two years at the time of testing were divided into two groups according to their physical activity: excellent group (HT) and non-excellent group (NHT). Athletes in the HT group practiced at least three times a week for more than one hour and a distance of 638-2275 meters. NHT group athletes practice at least twice a week, for half an hour, not more than 637 meters. Compared with NHT group, athletes in HT group had lower body fat content, higher density and heavier lean body mass. During the exercise of increasing treadmill load, the physiological indexes of HT athletes in all age groups, such as ventilation, maximum oxygen consumption and oxygen pulse, were significantly higher than those of the same age group in the NHT group.
