《21世纪对管理的挑战》一书是国际著名管理专家彼得·德鲁克1999年出版的一本最新著作，该书瞻望了未来对管理的思考与实践。在书中，德鲁克提出了两个同时发生的基本问题：世界经济的变化，以及管理实践的变化。专家们预测，这本世纪管理界泰斗的新著以其独到的对经营管理前景的见解定将引发热烈的讨论。由于在2000年初,中译本在国内尚未面世，而且即使全文译出，对不少管理者来说恐怕也不见得都有时间去通读全书。为此,中国企业联合会副理事长潘承烈最近将书中许多新的内容及论点加以节译，特供本刊发表,从而使石油石化管理者先睹为快。
The 21st Century Challenge to Management, a recent book by the internationally renowned management expert Peter Drucker published in 1999, looks forward to the future of management thinking and practice. In the book, Drucker poses two basic problems that occur simultaneously: changes in the world economy, and changes in management practices. Experts predict that the new era of management in this century will lead to heated discussions with its unique insights on the management and operation prospects. In early 2000, the Chinese version has not yet been published in China, and even if the full text is translated, I am afraid that many managers may not have time to read through the book. To this end, Pan Chenglie, vice chairman of China Enterprise Confederation, recently translated many of the new contents and arguments contained in the book for publication in the journal so as to make the petroleum and petrochemical managers a preview.
