Numerous studies have found that moderate amounts of alcohol, such as one to two beers, wines or cocktails, can help prevent coronary heart disease. Not long ago, a report in New England Journal of Medicine provided further evidence for this claim. The researchers compared 340 men and women with heart disease with healthy people of the same age. Scientists found that those who drank one to three times a day less often halved their heart attacks than non-drinkers.
