In order to summarize the research results and successful experiences of China’s statistics theory and practice in recent years, we should conduct a more in-depth discussion on the present situation of China’s statistics and its development direction in the future, encourage the development of academic research and practice of statisticians and promote the development of statistics. Journal magazine and the National Institute of Industrial statistics teaching jointly held the first national statistical future and development seminar in May 1994 May 11-15 held in Yichang, Hubei. Nearly 80 representatives from over 10 provinces and cities nationwide attended the meeting.
