“Shanghai Culture and Art Daily” March 8, 1991 Reporter Wang Xiangli and Cao Xiaolei report: The shortage of students, the drop in overall quality of students, the lack of funds, the weak teaching and the unattainable quality are the common problems faced by several major art colleges and universities in China at present. In 1978 and 1979, the general public competed for spectacular scenes of enrollment of two or thirty art institutions and was gone forever. Almost every faculty teacher is feeling the same long-standing, high-quality students who have nowhere near the end of a decade of turmoil. One of the reasons leading to the drop in the quality of students in recent years is that the number of students declining year by year and the requirements for exams in culture classes are low. The reduction of students has a direct impact on the quality of students. Many students of art colleges and universities do not pass the examination. Every year, there are always places for special approval. Some middle school students and teacher parents who do not have a good education in art classes, for purpose. This leads to art colleges and universities do not go up the mark. It is not uncommon to see students who have not attended a drama academy but have not seen one. The entertainment life of middle school students is only the news network that deals with current affairs exams. A teacher in the drama said that the Beijing secondary school amateur drama almost swept away a surplus.
