流传于苗瑶语族的盘瓠神话是源远流长的神话,它在传承变异中不断积淀着各历史时期的民俗信仰,其内涵层次十分深厚。可以说,盘瓠神话是反映苗族、瑶族和畲族民俗信仰的一幅历史画卷。对这幅画卷的研究还很不够,有些论作虽然提及,但较简单,并有随意不妥之说。本文试对盘瓠神话的民俗信仰作一系统的论述,以求教于专家。葫芦崇拜与盘瓠崇拜刘尧汉先生在《论中国葫芦文化》中说:“盘即葫芦”,又说“盘瓠是葫芦的别称”,文中只有结语,而无论证。我征之于古籍和民俗材料,却无任何“盘即葫芦”、“盘瓠是葫芦的别称”的证据。葫芦和盘瓠是否是同一毫无差异的实体,
The mythology of Panhu clan circulating in the Miao and Yao languages is a myth of a long history which accumulates the folk beliefs of all historical periods in the variation of inheritance. Its connotation is very deep. It can be said that Panhu myth is a historical picture that reflects the folk beliefs of the Miao, Yao and She peoples. The research on this picture is still not enough.
