Hydroxymethyl glutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-Co A) reductase inhibitors have become the main drug for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. The recommended initial dose of lovastatin is 20 mg, pravastatin is 10 or 20 mg, and its treatment costs and side effects also increased with increasing doses. The authors tested low-dose lovastatin and pravastatin in a randomized, crossover study
