Intentionality is one of the seven discourse criteria put forward by discourse linguists R. de Beaugrande and W.Dressler. In the process of discourse comprehension, the purpose of communication can be achieved only when the reader understands the author’s intention. Then in the process of translation, as an intermediary of communication, the translator can reproduce the original intention in translation, which is of crucial importance to the target audience. Based on the intentional features of the discourse, this article analyzes the blessings and the discourse intents of their English translation respectively. An example is given to illustrate how the translator replaces the original intention with the simple and vivid brushwork, the appropriate selection of words and the appropriate conversion of cultural information, based on the original spiritual culture.
