Since the 1960s, Russia’s Central Hydrofoil Design Bureau has produced several 400-500-tonne ground-based aircraft, which Russia calls the Wing-in-ground (WIG) aircraft. These aircraft use the same basic layout: T-shaped tail, on both sides of the fuselage, after the cockpit installed four jet engines. At present, the design bureau is building a new type of JAXA aircraft called “Mother Earth” which will be finalized at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The assembly work of the aircraft will be completed soon. “Mother” Efficient aircraft “Mother” Efficient aircraft originally developed for the Russian Navy, intended for shore-based anti-ship and maritime rescue. Due to a drastic reduction in military spending and the inability of the Russian Navy to buy the aircraft, the Central Hydrofoil Design Bureau is now endeavoring to seek Western financial support for the aircraft.
