Objective To understand the infection status of HBV and HCV among students in Chenzhou. Methods HBsAg and anti-HCV markers were detected by ELISA. Results The positive rate of HBsAg among 54 unrelated donors was 42.4%. The positive rates of HBsAg in the first and second grade students were respectively 32.5% and 52.4%, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05) . The positive rates of boys and girls were 4 79% and 3 48% respectively, there was significant difference between boys and girls (P <0.05). The positive rate of anti-HCV in 5 5 45 unpaid blood donors was 0 2 7%, of which the positive rates of 0 2 7% and 0 2 8% in first and second grade students were respectively 0 2 8 and 0 2 8 %, 0 2 6%. There was no significant difference between the two grades of students and those of girls and boys (P> 0.05). Conclusion The infection rate of HBV and HCV among college students is lower than that of natural persons
