There are two specialized prefabricated factories in Britain and France. They will produce 750,000 pieces of pipe for the Channel Tunnel. These segments will be assembled into a 93-mile (149.64km) long tunnel. Every two or three minutes, there is a piece of precision precast concrete plies up to 9 tons, shipped from pre-manufactured plants that operate day and night in the UK or France. The two plants are producing about $ 500 million worth of pipe for the Channel Tunnel. The storage capacity of the pipe is a sign of the progress of the tunnel project. The decline in French tube stock reflects the recent rapid construction progress on this side of the Channel.
