The central tectonic line is the longest active fault in Japan. The chemical composition of the Yujaspa mineral bubble in the vicinity of it is measured, indicating that the period of H 2 emission growth coincides with the nearby Wennuo earthquake. In the last three years, four coincidental events were observed without exception. H 2 concentration varies between <0.5 and 200 ppm, while other gases, such as He, Ar, N 2 and CH 4, do not change much. H 2 concentration is related to the energy released by seismic activity. Field data and laboratory experiments conducted by Sugisaki et al. (1983) show that H 2 observed in mineral springs is caused by the reaction of rock fragmented by seismicity with groundwater, and H 2 in mineral water occurs before the earthquake. This observation It is suggested that the micro-cracks in the rock may occur before the earthquake. The precursor H 2 emission may be helpful for the earthquake prediction.
