为激励见义勇为、挺身而出与违法犯罪分子作斗争的勇敢行为,慰问、抚恤在同违法犯罪分子作斗争中光荣牺牲、负伤的人员及其家属,奖励、褒扬在维护社会治安中作出突出贡献的有功人员和有功单位,建立并完善维护社会治安的物质保障机制,促进我市的社会主义精神文明建设和治安稳定——深圳市社会治安基金会于1992年1月15日应运而生。五年来,基金会始终恪守本会宗旨,设法筹集治安基金,及时表彰治安勇士,大力弘扬社会正气,为促进特区社会治安不断好转和社会主义精神文明建设发挥了重要的作用。1994年,基金会被市民政局评为“深圳市十佳社团”。
