2月16日,新疆人民会堂座无虚席,杨善洲同志先进事迹报告会在这里举行。杨善洲同志生前是云南省保山地委书记,1988年从领导岗位上退下来后,主动放弃了到昆明安享晚年的机会,毅然回到家乡施甸县,二十年如一日带领群众植树造林、绿化荒山,发展经济、造福百姓,直到生命的最后一刻。杨善洲同志一生坚守共产党人的精神气节,无愧于“全国优秀共产党员”的光荣称号。
On February 16, the People’s Hall of Xinjiang was packed, and Comrade Yang Shanzhou’s deeds will be held here. Comrade Yang Shanzhou was born in Baoshan prefectural party secretary of Yunnan Province. After he stepped down from his leadership posts in 1988, he took the initiative to give up his chance of enjoying his old age in Kunming and resolutely returned to his hometown of Shidian County. In 20 years he led the masses to reforest and afforest Barren hills, economic development, the benefit of the people, until the last moment of life. Comrade Yang Shanzhou has always adhered to the spirit of communist integrity and is worthy of the glorious title of “outstanding communist member of the country.”
