Although the sense of space position involves the processing of vestibular information in the cerebral cortex, there are contradictory information about the vestibular projection of the cerebral cortex. Most animal studies suggest that the parietal cortex is the major site, and Penfield and Rasmussen (1950) found that electrical stimulation of the superior temporal gyrus, especially the auditory beak, can induce a sense of full body rotation and fall to the opposite side. From the various parts of the cerebral cortex, such as the temporal, apical and insula, but mainly from the subcortical area have been sense of rotation.
