The seismic behaviour of beam-slab-column sandwich joints is affected by many
parameters. In these circumstances, statistically designed experiments are essential. The
seismic behaviour of beam-slab-column sandwich joints are therefore, analysed in the
thesis from tests of four specimens of edge joim designed according to orthogonal design
methods. The thesis research work is composed of the following.
Experimental research. -The four specimens constructed with strong concrete of
42.213MPa in columms while beam-slab with weaker concrete of 24.33MPa or 31.11MPa
are presented.
The intuitive orthogonal analysis was used after the normalisation of the
hysteretic behaviour of the specimens. The seismic performance of the joints is compared
with respect to energy dissipation, ductility index and column strength.
A set of equations used for predicting the joint strength is displayed in the thesis.
