There are several articles written about how to enter into the Chinese market, how difficult it is to adapt to Chinese business culture and how to succeed in the Chinese market. However there is very little written about how Mexican companies should compete in this country;what kinds of culture shock a Mexican company with their own characteristics may experience;and the way to do business in such a complicated market. I think it is important to delimit the information focusing only on Mexican companies willing to enter into the Chinese market.Mexican companies have their own weaknesses and strengths,so they could have different problems and different advantages. This study provides a review of a few Mexican companies’ experiences in China and analyzes their experience,in order to use this paper as a manual for other Mexican companies interested in the matter. We are going to explain the ups and downs of China and Mexico relations,so we can have a better understanding of the facts that caused the current China-Mexico relation status.Through this thesis we are also going to analyze the Chinese market and its consumers,as well as point out the differences between China and western way of doing business. The Chinese and Mexican markets are extremely different.Mexicans and Chinese both like spicy food but is a different kind of spicy,Mexicans like to eat sweet things but Chinese prefer salty.Even the way of doing business is quite different–Mexicans prefer to separate friends from business while the Chinese prefer to do business with people that know well. Our qualitative research is aimed at understanding what kind of adaptations need to be applied to Mexican products in order to succeed in the Chinese market.Being born a Mexican and having lived in China for three years, gave me firsthand experience about both the Mexican and Chinese Markets.
