One of the major goals of the European Union (EU) is to open the labor markets of all member states to all citizens of the EU.In order to promote the freedom of movement for workers across Europe a unified multilingual classification of skills, competences, qualifications and occupations relevant for the labor market, education and training is required.The ESCO project, initiated by the European Union, facilitates the dialogue between the labor markets and the education/training sector with an IT-based database.Any project which is based on this database depends on the quality of its data.As a consequence, the data quality of the current version of the database has to be assessed.The results show that some improvements are recommended which should be integrated in the next release of the ESCO database.
